You and your dogs have lodging options due to pet friendly motel chains
Pet owners who are going on a vacation have a few options for caring for their pets while they are traveling. Some common options are taking the pet with them on the trip and staying in pet friendly hotels or using a pet boarding service, either somewhere near their home or a location near the hotel where they stay. The type and size of dog that you have might make one or the other of these options more attractive than the other.
Pets that do not travel well might be best left in a boarding location or with a dog sitter. Larger pets may not be welcome even in many dog friendly accommodations, as these do sometimes have limits on weight for the pets that are allowed to stay with them. Consequently, if you do decide to travel with larger pets, you will have to do a bit more searching to find your accommodation. Thankfully, a few of the websites that list hotels that are willing to allow pets allow you to filter just those locations that accept large pets. Boarding the pet near your hotel is another option, as you would still be able to spend time with your dog even if you cannot find a hotel that will accept both you and your pet.

Sometimes, even when there is a hotel that will take your pet, it is better to leave them home with a blanket and some organic pet treats due to travel stresses.
