All I Want For Christmas Is... Call Of Duty Black Ops, Actually

For the gamers among us there is a lot to look forward to this festive season. A lot of 360 fans would probably like a Kinect (if they haven't given up waiting and bought one for themselves already), while PS3 aficionados will be planning on getting their hands on the shiny new Playstation Move peripheral. However, one thing's for sure: PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 games will be a prominent feature of the Christmas lists of many a good little girl and boy.

Black Ops will be high on the list of many an FPS fan, and is found on most consoles (the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS, to be exact). Taking place during the Cold War, the game follows black operations behind enemy lines. One of Call of Duty Black Ops' main plot points is the chemical weapon Nova-6, a deadly gas originating in WWII Nazi Germany. As well as a predicably excellent multiplayer mode, zombie mode makes a triumphant return, pitting Robert McNamara, Richard Nixon, John F Kennedy and Fidel Castro against the brain-munching monsters.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm is, of course, a rather different game, but certainly none the less popular following its release. The latest expansion pack for the incredibly popular MMORPG will literally change the players' in game world, the evil dragon aspect Deathwing tearing his way through the dimensional barrier between Deepholm and Azeroth and fiercely rending the landscape as a result. With a load of new content (including Worgen and Goblins) and an increased level cap, it looks like 2011 is going to be very busy for both the Alliance and the Horde.

Still, if you were one of those with a 360 Kinect on your list and nothing else then don't worry: there are a load of awesome games on their way.

Exploring The Empire In Star Wars: The Old Republic (Game Informer)

After three years of interminable waiting, we've finally had the opportunity
to dig into BioWare's upcoming Star Wars MMO. Even while we now get going on
our final game release characters, weeks ago four Game Informer editors spent
dozens of combined hours during the game's beta exploring different character
classes populating the Sith Empire faction. We discovered a gigantic game
whose scope and ambition are hard to overstate. Combining the traditions of
World of Warcraft-style questing and cooperative multiplayer with the
storytelling, character depth, and voice acting of other BioWare games like
Mass Effect and Dragon Age, The Old Republic is poised to reshape the MMO
landscape. Every one of us who played the game found dramatically different
experiences to be excited about; flip the pages to the character class you're
most excited about, or explore each journal for the full picture. And keep an
eye out in the coming days and weeks as we continue our coverage of this long-
awaited game.
