Encourage But Dont Push Music Learning
Its only lately that I have really appreciated the benefits that I enjoyed as a result of growing up in a musical family. My father was a keen jazz guitarist, my mother an accomplished pianist and my uncle an avid drummer.
Having children of my own I can see how they have benefited from having access to guitars and other musical instruments as they've grown up. We've never pushed them toward learning to play an instrument like piano or violin. Instead they've been allowed to develop their own interest, just as I was, and this approach has clearly been good for them.
Our youngest boy has no interest in playing an instrument of making music. He has a very keen interest in sports, especially football, and online gaming. However his older brother was bashing out rhythms on a toy drum kit from about the age of three. By the time he was seven years old he was playing along with my guitar playing on his mini child size drum kit.
My daughter has a particularly rebellious personality and she has always liked to challenge both her mother and me, ever since she was a toddler. In recent years she has begun to take a keen interest in music and for her this is all about playing Drum and Bass music at phenomenal volume levels which tend to regularly upset the neighbours. Her interest in DJ equipment and modern dance music has led to her developing skills in music production using computers and it's looking like she will progress to a music technology course at college.
I think that parental influence has clearly affected the inclinations and interests of my three children. We've always tried to ensure that boundaries are clearly defined but encouraged them to be independent. As they grow older it is clear that they are developing into independent, self reliant and capabel adults. We just wish that our daughter would play her dance music a little more quietly and stop upsetting our neighbours.
Just For Fun, Boy or Girl?
I'm 22 Weeks Along. Bump popped out at 18 weeks, and is "high". But I feel kicks in my lower pelvic area. Lost 15 pounds in the beginning of pregnancy, have gained 10 of that back.
Craving watermelon, cake, cold (Icecream, ice, popsicles) and spicy food (Tabasco is my favorite thing!)
I don't get heartburn from spicy food, I get it from things like chips and bread (weird?)
Pregnancy symptoms were: Heartburn, nausea with and without vomitting, and severe fatigue.
Ultrasound at 20 weeks, baby was moving too much. However, she said she didn't detect a scrotum, but couldn't say if it was a girl. However, I did some research that says a baby boy's scrotum doesn't "drop" until about 24 weeks, so I was convinced I was having a girl, but now I'm not so sure.
Just wanted some thoughts! I enjoy my pregnancy so much, but I think my friends and family have gotten tired of me talking about it ALLLL the time!
high belly is usually a girl. but obviously theres the ones who arent. have them do another if you can? i know i had them check at the 2 ultrasounds i had after they told me a girl with my first. now this time i will do the same lol. gotta be sure! the boy parts can drop anytime between 18 to 24 weeks i believe.

# The Case
It's a story that modern horror fans are certainly not unaccustomed to. A man
-- in this case, David (C. James Roberts) -- awakens in the midst of a world
that seems utterly devoid of life. He remembers society, he remembers streets
teeming with people, but he has no clear memory of the events that have led
him to this juncture. It's at this point our story takes an interesting turn
to the undead.
Wait, did I say "interesting?" Forgive me. I must have still been thinking
about **28 Days Later**. Rest assured, nothing quite so exciting happens in
**2**, a movie that moves at so lethargic a pace even the shambling corpses
themselves are liable to turn around and yell for it to try and keep up.
I can understand the appeal of trying to craft a low-budget horror movie. As a
boy, I succeeded in taking home every available VHS tape in the horror section
at Allan's Video. I don't know how any gore hound couldn't look at Sam Raimi
or Peter Jackson's early output and not think it looks like a ton ...
